Food insecurity in Detroit is an issue rooted deeply in the complex systems that have been created throughout history. Rather than trying to tackle the entire issue of food insecurity in one project which would be impossible, we asked the question of how could a simple idea create connection?

Through prototyping the idea of the community board (something that is already present in various neighborhoods throughout the city) was thought of. By refining and narrowing down more specifically we created three simple booklets that would help people plan, cook and share. They would be placed in an inviting case to attract people at grocery stores scattered throughout the city.
